Conservatories are a great addition to the home – they add space and light and offer a restful connection to outside space. However, they can be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. Installing an energy efficient air conditioning unit will ensure that your conservatory is comfortable all year round.
So where do you start when it comes to looking for air conditioning for your conservatory? The first thing to know is that air conditioning today is very energy efficient. The modern air conditioning systems that we install are supplied by leading manufacturers that have energy ratings of A+++. Typically for every kW of electric used, you will get 4 to 5kW of heating.
Air conditioning requires an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. Pipes between the two are discretely placed so you will see no ugly pipes.
Indoor units come in a range of colours and designs so that they blend in with your decor. You can choose from low rise floor mounted air conditioning units or wall mounted air conditioning units. The floor mounted units will show little pipework as the pipes feed directly through the wall behind the unit and run to the outdoor unit. The wall mounted units may require a little discrete trunking to cover the electric cable and pipes for the condensate to drain into, but the works are minimal.
The outdoor unit is usually installed next to the outside wall of the house where it will not cause any obstruction and where it can be easily accessed for maintenance.
Site survey
You should always check that your chosen air conditioning installer has all of the relevant qualifications. You can then ask your local air conditioning company to carry out a site survey. At Loop Air Conditioning we carry out no-obligation site surveys FREE OF CHARGE. We will assess the space to heat and cool and calculate the size of the system you require. We will then talk you through the range of options so that you can choose the system that’s right for you.
Help with costs
If you choose a heat pump system (which is classed as renewable energy), this will qualify for funding from the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (RHI). Heat pumps work by taking in the outside air via the outdoor unit and converting it to the required temperature and then delivering it through the indoor unit. This significantly reduces the energy needed to deliver heating or cooling into your home, and keep costs to the absolute minimum.
All of our installed air conditioning systems come with a 3 or 5 year warranty including parts. Our engineers are all F-Gas qualified and you should always ask to see evidence of this from any air conditioning engineer, and verify their ID via the F-Gas website.
